The  Prince George Galitzine Memorial Library, St Petersburg, founded in memory of  Prince George Galitzine in 1994 by the London based charity "The Galitzine - St Petersburg Trust" is the only Anglo-Russian Library in St Petersburg.

The theme of the Library is "Rossica of the 20th Century":

  • books about Russia published abroad
  • publications by Russian emigres
  • rare literary journals and magazines, otherwise known as 'Tamizdat'

Most of these books were not readily available during Soviet times for political reasons, now the books in the Library fill that gap with volumes dating from before1917.

The goal of the Library is "to educate, enlighten and inspire".

Among the donations to The Galitzine Library are books from members of the British Royal family, Russian scholars, authors, politicians and many established British and Russian institutions.

Everyone is welcome and we also host many events relevant to our theme.
